About Carlos Garbiras

Carlos Garbiras is an award-winning essayist, columnist, and storytelling performer laughing at his topsy-turvy upbringing in Colombia, the immigrant experience in California, and unconventionally raising two amazing daughters! Best known for his award-winning appearances at West Side Stories.

Carlos graduated cum laude from San Diego State University’s School of Communication. Through college, he competed regionally and nationally in Impromptu Speaking, Entertainment Speeches, and Policy Debates.

His essays have been published by Scribe, The Memoirist, Your Tango, Petaluma Argus-Courier, Redwood Writers, Tell Your Story and other magazines. He is a frequent performer at Petaluma’s West Side Stories, Da Salon, and in San Francisco at The Marsh.
